Illinois Enacts Law Requiring Food Manufacturers to Label for Sesame
The Great State of Illinois has taken the bold step of requiring sesame to be labeled for when it is an ingredient of a food product sold in the state. Until the FDA follows suit, those suffering from sesame allergy outside the state should NOT assume products are labeled for sesame despite more manufacturers doing so.
Clinical Trial to Evaluate Experimental Treatment in People Allergic to Multiple Foods
Exciting news from the National Institutes of Health that will be conducting a clinical study of Omalizumab (Xolair) for multiple food allergies. Small studies have shown the antibody may be protective for people that inadvertently consume small amounts of an allergen and other studies have shown that it may protect individuals undergoing OIT from reactions, allowing the process to be accelerated.
